Currently, the SSSU does not have access to regular data flows from the STS; theSSSU is in final stages of formalizing the necessary legal arrangements to secure data from the tax 3.The SSSU, through its external consultants, is developing an extensive framework fordata preparation and index compilation covering the entire CPI basket.In addition to transactiondata from the tax authorities, it is planned to incorporate data obtained via APIs, web scraping and social 4.Implementing new data sourcesin the CPI has the potential to enhance index quality byexpanding item, outlet, and time coverage, resulting in more reliable and accurate measure ofinflation which is essential for informed policymaking by the authorities and the IMF.Furthermore,the use of modern data sources is expected to reduce field data collection costs. The proposed changesin the CPI are, however, comprehensive and will affect the entire CPI basket.
