As product marketers, we’re keen to understand how our peers worldwide are compensated, so wecan better benchmark our own salaries. Are we being paid in line with the value we create? Andwhat factors now play the most significant roles in determining earning potential? To shed light on these questions, we surveyed product marketing professionals from around theglobe, uncovering the latest insights and trends in compensation for 2024/25. Before diving into the results, a few notes on the methodology: •The data reflects survey responses and may not represent all product marketers. •The figures are in US Dollars (USD) for consistency. •We analyzed three key data points: •Base salary (before taxes) •Annual bonus and stock options •Total compensation including salary, bonuses, and stock granted •Our research primarily focuses onmedianbase salaries. We believe this measurement(which controls for outliers) offers the most accurate representation of real earnings. Here are some key takeaways to get you started. The global base salary average (without factoring invariables like location, job title, gender, and so on) is$129,241, a 6% increase from 2023. The region that reported the highest average totalcompensation was North America($170,149). The gap between male and female average totalcompensation narrowed to just1.6%in 2024. However,in the United States, the gender pay gap remainsstubbornly high at11%. The global product marketing median salary now sits at$105,500, up 0.5% from last year. While B2D companies prioritize stock grants as acompensation strategy, B2B companies favor bonuses. B2B PMMs earn 3.4% more than B2C PMMs in mediansalary ($105,000 > $101,500). PMMs at sales-first companies earn the highest mediansalary at$109,250. In general, product marketers earn$5000a year morewhen they have a product marketing certification. Examining the global averages, we can see year-on-year increases in overall compensation. In2024, the average total compensation (including salary, bonuses, and stock) rose by 6% to$129,241. Before-tax earnings also saw a 4% increase from the previous year, reaching$114,900. Notably, theyearly bonuses rose by 28%, reflecting an increase from$9,033to$11,541, while the value of stockgrants climbed by 26%, now averaging$8,521. The median salary remained almost flat with a modest increase of 0.5%, suggesting that, whilegains were made in total compensation, typical base salaries experienced only minor adjustments. This growth in stock and bonuses highlights the resilient nature of compensation packages in 2024despite challenging market conditions.
