As China is one of the countriesfeaturing a relatively high degree of population ageing in the world, populationageing is a fundamental national condition for China at present and a long periodin the future. At present, China is entering a period of rapid increase in population ageing.The number of older persons aged 60 and above exceeded 310 million By theend of 2024. According to the research on the forecast of the development trendof population ageing organized by China National Committee on Ageing, sucha number will approach 390 million in 2030, exceed 400 million in 2032, andreach 520 million in 2050, when it will account for 40 percent of China’s totalpopulation.
