Let’s further align, assess and act collectivelyfor tangible impact thatimproves farmer prosperity, environmental health andsupply chain resilience. As more sustainability schemes align with the CoffeeSustainability Reference Code and the GCP EquivalenceMechanism, and achieve GCP recognition, morecompanies are working with their coffee-farming anddownstream partners on advancing at least baselinesustainability practices and committing to continuousimprovement. This leads to greater visibility and trustin the coffee supply chain. GCP’s Sustainable CoffeeSourcing approach supports creating a level playingfield where all coffee production can eventually meet atleast Coffee SR Code levels to ensure compliance andmotivate continuous improvement towards measurableoutcomes on farmer prosperity and resilience. The 2024 edition of the Sustainable Coffee PurchasesReport demonstrates continued progress. Monitoringthis progress has been possible thanks to the leadershipof GCP Members. Aligned around common definitionsof coffee sustainability, roasters, retailers, andGCP-recognized sustainability schemes are translatingtheir commitments into concrete action with theircoffee-producing partners. This commitment includes collective reporting, demonstrating transparency and a willingness to shareannual updates on progress towards their respectivetargets on sustainable coffee purchases. Together, thisgrowing group of companies and organizations embracestransparency and continuous improvement, encouragesdiversity of sourcing and – through expanding the scopeof sustainable coffee – enables greater participation ofsmallholder farmers to access markets and increasinglymanage their farms as businesses.
