Executive Summary In 2023,theglobal automobileproduction and sales reached 92.72 million1, with China'sannual automobile production and sales surpassing 30 million for the first time, ranking first inthe world2. The automotive industry's 'contribution' to greenhouse gas emissions is alsosignificant. Globally, the transportation industry accounts for about 16% of global greenhousegas emissions3,whilethe processing and manufacturing of raw materials such as steel andaluminumbeing theemission hotspots andmajor contributors to China's industrial carbonemissions. Thus,the automotive industry urgently needs to innovate and explore pathways forcollaborativecarbon reductionmeasures with their suppliers, to incentivize and accelerate theinnovation and application of low-carbon green technologies, and to drive the low-carbontransition of steel and aluminumcompanies.
