Along-term goal in the oil and gas industry is to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG)emissions. Energy companies use diesel engines across the entire value chain, contributing to the increase in global emissions. The major challenge — actual GHGemissions from oil and gas drilling rigs, fracking units, onshore equipment, or marinevessels are not being measured. There is an answer. Energy industry leaders can implement an innovative emissiontracking and reduction strategy to get actionable data-driven insights, improve long-termESG impact, and increase revenue. Discover how state-of-the-art cloud technologies, theinternet of things, and data science come together to proactively monitor emission levels, detect optimization opportunities, and improveoperationalefficiency. Client background Business challenge TS Cyanergy (Cyanergy) is an innovativestartup driven by its founders’ motivationto address a drawback in the globalemission tracking approach. Energycompanies tend to calculate approximateemissions based on the volume ofpurchased fuel and data tables providedby the engine manufacturer or by manualmeasures of fuel consumption recordedby hand. This approach does not revealthe actual level of emissions; thus, thesemethods may over-report emissions basedon conservative one size fits all situationsconversions. The absence of appropriate emissionstracking and measuring combined withthe poorly optimized power load of dieselengines generates additional issues forteams on a rig or a platform, such asthe inefficient use of engine resourcesand excessive fuel consumption. Theseproblems result in increased emission ofthree main GHGs: methane (CH4), carbondioxide CO2, and nitrous oxide (N2O) intothe atmosphere. Currently, there is a problem withmeasuring the amount of these gasesand reducing the emissions to the normsand rules established by the regulators. Not solving the problem of hydrocarbonemissions can lead to significant financiallosses, inefficient engine power usage, anddecreased employee motivation. Cyanergy offers energy companies thatwant to reduce emission levels a uniquesolution that combines the installation oftheir sensor-based equipment to measureemission levels along with the engines’power load and state-of-the-art customsoftware to aggregate data for onsitemanagement and ESG reports. TS Cyanergy partnered with SoftServe to develop a custom software solution thatleverages the power of Cyanergy’s sensors. The goal was to measure emissions moreaccurately and provide guidance and recommendations for optimizingengine performance. Project description The SoftServe team developed a cloud-based solution that simplifies thecollection of drilling rig data, tracksperformance over time, and unlocks costsavings across many operations in the oiland gas production stages. working with large amounts of raw dataintegrated and aggregated frommultiple sources. The solution that we created consists ofseveral dashboards analyzing engine load, fuel consumption, emissions statistics, etc.Access to certain dashboards depends onthe user’s role permission. The followingdashboards were created: Rig operatordashboard, Rig superintendent dashboards,Engineer/ESG and Cyanergy BI analystdashboards, Gas emissions dashboard,Operations manager dashboards, andAuditors dashboards. There is a possibilityof requesting the CSV reports to completethe necessary comparisons. This cloud-based solution allows accuratemeasurement of the emissions data in realtime. Accurate emissions data is a crucialelement necessary to understanding howto optimize the onshore and offshoreproduction activities in the oil and gasindustry. Our solution is built to aggregatedata for onsite management andESG reporting. Cyanergy installed a gas analyzer tomeasure actual gas emissions and a datacollector to gather engine data. They are Value delivered SoftServe helped TS Cyanergy focus on company-level decisions based on theseadditional benefits: •Improvedoperationalefficiency:Optimization decisions are madepromptly and more safely. •Simplified workflow:Data is collectedautomatically, saving employees time sothey can focus on other tasks. •Enhanced productivity:Engineproductivity will increase by 25% (asper client comments). •Cost savings/cost reductions:Byincreasing the engine performance, wecan reduce GHG emissions and fuelconsumption, resulting in significantsavings. •Reduced paperwork:The applicationautomatically displays the data, sendingit to the database, effectively eliminatingpaperwork. •Improved accuracy/quality:Data canbe accurately calculated, allowing theuser to build dependency points anduse them more efficiently. •Maximized business growth:Theapplication can be expanded to includeup to 90,000 active units on drillingrigs, oil and gas pipeline compressionstations, and ships. LET’S TALKabout how SoftServe can help you develop a cloud-based solution capableof accurate measurement of the emissions data in real time and help you track theperforman
