Collaboration with leading research andsupercomputing institutions has already supported thedevelopment of sovereign AI, low-resource languagemodels and production-grade generative AI, alignedwith regional and national priorities. As technology advances and the worldchanges, the mobile industry is evolvingrapidly. With 5G Advanced networksentering commercial service and AI gainingtraction, renewal and reinvention areeverywhere. But amid all the dynamism and innovation, it’s vital thatthe global mobile industry doesn't compromise on thecooperation that has always underpinned its success.One of the goals of the GSMA is to provide the trusted,interoperable, future-ready technical foundations thatsupport global digital economies, public infrastructure,and inclusive growth. The GSMA Foundry plays anincreasingly important role in enabling us to fulfil thatobjective. It is particularly encouraging to see so many Foundryprojects progressing from proof of concept tolargescale deployment. This reflects a deliberatestrategic focus of building long-term ecosystemcapability and durable innovation capacity, rather thansimply completing short-term projects. At the same time, the Foundry must continue to lookahead. As technologies such as quantum networking,sensing and compute mature, they will becomefoundational infrastructure layers alongside AI andnon-terrestrial networks. By expanding into thesedomains, and through the development of a unifiedglobal lab network and vertical innovation architecture,the Foundry is laying the groundwork to acceleratefuture cross-sector adoption and deployment. Trust is a clear example. As scams and fraudcontinue to grow in scale and sophistication,technical responses must be built into the fabric ofour networks. Through the Foundry, GSMA membersare collaborating on initiatives that embed verifiableidentity, cryptography and network-level intelligencedirectly into telecoms infrastructure. Interoperability isfundamental to this work: antifraud mechanisms suchas Open Verifiable Calling must operate seamlesslyacross networks if they are to be effective. Change may be constant, but the principles thatunderpin the mobile ecosystem endure. Throughthe GSMA Foundry, we will continue to advancecollaboration, interoperability and trust – ensuring Interoperability is equally essential as we move intothe next phase of network evolution. The capabilitiesunlocked by 5G Advanced, and the integrationof non-terrestrial networks with existing cellularinfrastructure, will only deliver their full value if theyfunction as part of a coherent global system.
