Foreword This report ispart of the project “Community participatory processes, focussed on equity in health, at thelocal level”, conducted by the Directorate of Employment, Labour and Social Affairs of the OECD. Thereport was produced in collaboration with the Department of Health of the Basque Country and funded bythe European Union via the Technical Support Instrument. The project is implemented inco-operation withthe Reform and Investment Task Force of the European Commission. The main objective of this project is tosupport the Basque authorities in developing a strategy to establishmechanisms and processes that promote community action for public health and well-being, building onand creating synergieswith existing initiatives. This report corresponds to Activities3.1and 3.2ofOutput3, and Activity5.1of Output5 of the project, which began in November2023 and was completedby January2024. The report builds on the information collected during the fact-finding mission, follow-uponline interviews and throughseveral questionnaires completed by various stakeholders. The reportpresents the assessment of the work of the Department of Health of the Basque Country and the mappingof community action for health in the Basque Country. Theassessmentand the mappingofprocessesconstitute key inputs for the development of recommendations for a strategy to strengthen communityaction processes and improve health and well-being in the Basque Country. Authors acknowledge the support and active collaboration of the Directorate of Public Health andAddictions of the Department of Health of the Basque Country.
