TheInclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Approaches (IFCMA) is the OECD’s flagship initiativedesigned to help optimise the global impact of emissions reduction efforts around the worldthrough better data and information sharing, evidence-based mutual learning and better mutualunderstanding, and inclusive multilateral dialogue. The IFCMA is enhancing understanding of the full spectrum of carbon mitigation approaches deployedaround the world and their combined global impactby taking stock of different carbon mitigationapproaches, mapping policies to the emissions they cover, andassessingtheir impacts on emissionsthrough modelling and by reviewing empirical evidence. The IFCMA is also identifying and addressingchallenges relatedto the calculation of sector-and product-level carbon intensity metrics, tosupportthedesign and evaluation of mitigation policies, andenable the development of markets for low-carbongoods.This work supports better international co-ordination to avoid the proliferation of differentstandards, help minimise compliance costs for businessesand avoid disruptions to trade.
