Zeki’sWomen in AI 2024 report describes the choices women make as they follow theirresearch and professional paths. Themain trends highlightedin the report include: •Top female AI scientists and engineers,as measured by the Zeki Indicators, arefocused on achieving excellence in theirresearch and improving AIto make it morerobust and representative. to return. We focus on the top emergingtalent at the frontier of discovery and innovation,demonstrating the use of our technology to find promising,early-career talent who, for various reasons, may lack theappropriate support structures to fulfil their potential. AI is a highly dynamicsector with new talent andexpertise coming into themarket daily. Women play a central role in AI,bringing unique perspectives to amarket long dominated by men. With this purpose in mind, we created a curated datasetof women who either were selected to present papersat the 20 most prestigious AI conferences or had theirwork published in one of the top 20 AI journals over thepast 10 years. We collected data from these sourcesto compile a comprehensive dataset of the works andresearch connections of133,082 peopleat the forefrontof AI innovation,23% of whom are women (30,571). Wethen enhanced this data by using a variety of open-sourcedatabases and applying our advanced machine-learningmodels to project their likely career paths.
