Companies began to rethink their business models amid projectionsof significant market growth.1And countries — especially in thedeveloping world — looked to the United Nations (UN), and to theInternational Telecommunication Union (ITU), for guidance on howto make this transformative technology work for their benefit. At thesame time, a third of humanity remains offline worldwide. As thepace of AI innovation continues unabated, we must avoid creatingyet another digital divide. This requires striking a careful balancebetween innovation, regulation, and inclusion. This report — a joint effort between ITU and 46 UN agencies and bodies — features 408 projectscovering all 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Seven UN entities are making their debutthis year. This UN-led innovation takes many different forms, from improving health outcomes using largelanguage models to mapping groundwater stores using satellite data and AI. nd it comes ata t
