FOREWORD It is with great pleasure that I extend myutmost greetings as we proudly unveil theEnergy Efficiency Best Practice Awards 2023report. Atthe ASEAN Centre for Energy(ACE), we take great pride in nurturing theprivate sector's dedication to the advance-mentof energy efficiency in the ASEANregion, and this annual report stands as atestament to the remarkable strides achievedin this field. The current transformative changes in the energy landscape underscore the urgentneed to enhance energy efficiency, making our collective efforts more crucial thanever.ASEAN sets a target to achieve 32% energy intensity reduction target by2025, against 2005 level. However, only 24.5% was achieved in 2021. The Energy Efficiency Best Practice Awards not only serve as a distinguishedplatform to acknowledge and celebrate outstanding initiatives that exemplify theregion's unwavering commitment to sustainable energy practices. Through thecontents of this report, our aim is also to disseminate invaluable insights, innovativestrategies, and success stories to inspire and propel further advancements inenergy efficiency across the ASEAN region. As we navigate the intricacies of a rapidly evolving energy ecosystem, it isheartening to observe the unwavering dedication and ingenuity demonstrated byindividuals, organisations, and governments within our ASEAN Member States. Theprojects and practices highlighted in this report showcase the diverse array ofapproaches employed to enhance energy efficiency, reflecting the rich tapestry ofexperiences within our ASEAN community. We hope that by delving into the best practices articulated herein, our collectiveaspiration is to stimulate knowledge exchange, foster collaboration, and facilitatethe adoption of transformative solutions. Such collaborative endeavors are impera-tive for the realisation of the ambitious sustainability goals outlined in the ASEANPlan of Action for Energy Cooperation (APAEC) Phase II.
