This paper examines the effects of decentralizing demonstrations on technology adoption in Bangladesh. The study randomizes access to a fixed demonstration kit for new flood-saline-resilient seeds among villages, with demonstration provided by a single farmer or spread across many farmers. The results show that decentralization increases technology adoption in the short run, but the additional impacts of decentralization disappear in the long run. The study also suggests that belief dispersion causes noisy adoption along the learning path. The findings of this paper provide insights into the role of decentralization in technology adoption and the importance of considering the learning process when designing technology diffusion policies.
