Forgingthe Future: The Intersection of Health, Al and Techbrought together over 300 participants from 20countries across industry, academia, government,and other critical stakeholder groups, in PittsburghUnited States, on October 19-21. Opening Message The world continues to navigate a period ofremarkable complexity - one defined bymultiple crises, rapid technologicaltransformation, and a fast-evolving geopoliticallandscape. Yet, amid these profound shifts, wefind ourselves in a moment of extraordinarynew possibilities. The work of the GFCC has gained additionalrelevance in this era of disruption anddiscontinuity - as leaders around the worldseek to develop strategies and co-createsolutions for the future. Our community is motivated by the urgent need to accelerateglobal prosperity by embedding innovation-drivencompetitiveness thinking, frameworks, and strategies acrosseconomies - making them a critical policy cornerstone todrive economic and productivity growth, raise livingstandards, and transform societies. Gold, GFCC Treasurer Chad Evans, GFCC Executive Director Roberto Alvarez For the first time, we host our annual event in partnership with the Council onCompetitiveness and its series of "Competitiveness Conversations Across America" For three days, leaders exchanged ideas and strategies around a series of issues at the heart of futurecompetitiveness: trends in health technologies, the intersection of health and transformative computing, thefuture of advanced manufacturing, and strategies to advance place-making innovation. During the gathering, the GFCC launched the 2025 Call to Action - Advancing Competitiveness in a Turbulent andFast-Changing World, a strategic framework outlining ten competitiveness priorities for stakeholders acrosssectors to enhance productivity, foster growth, and raise living standards. On October 19, during the Annual Meeting, wehosted a pioneer working session with GFCCmembers and fellows to advance theimplementation of the strategies outlined inthe Call to Action. Building on that, the GFCCis launching two global task forces to driveaction and implement the guidelines set outin the document. The success of Forging the Future wouldnot have been possible without theinvaluable support and leadership of ourhosts. We are grateful to the University ofPittsburgh and to Chancellor Joan Gabeland to Carnegie Mellon University andPresident Farnam Jahanian, for receivingour Community in Pittsburgh. Forging the Future provided a unique platformfor our members, fellows and an exceptionalcommunity of tech, research, business, andpolicy leaders from across the world toexchangeideas,connect,andforgestrategicpartnerships that will help advance theirorganizations' agendas.
