When using alternative bookingmethods, travelers most often turn to travel agents orbook directly with suppliers. Nine in 10 travelers book business trips via onlinebooking tools. Mandatoryuse ofOBT BypassingOBTs While a third of traveling employees always use theircompany’s OBT, adoption is not universal, particularlyin the case of changes or complex itineraries. Nine in 10 business travelers report that the use ofOBTs is mandated by their employers. SuppliersbookedthroughOBTs FrequencyofOBTuse OBTs are most commonly used to book air and hotel,followed by car rental, while other types of groundtransportation are booked far less frequently throughthese tools. Consistent OBT use is widespread among travelers:Seven in 10 use their company OBT every time theybook business trips. Why useanOBTifnotmandated OBTuseifnotmandated Compliance with company policy and the convenienceof having all bookings in one place emerge as theprimary drivers. Nearly two-thirds of travelers would use a companybooking tool if it wasn’t mandated. Travelersatisfactionwith OBTs Over three-quarters of travelers are happy with their company’s OBT, with just one in 10 expressingdissatisfaction. Bookingexperience ConfidenceinOBTs While most travelers report that company-providedOBTs meet their needs, gaps remain in both coverageand usability. Two-thirds of travelers trust their OBT to show thebest option. OBTshortcomings Business travelersidentify content quality,pricing and bookingcomplexity as the keygaps in OBTs. CommunicationviaOBT Travelers find messages with flight information and disruption warnings to be the most helpfulcommunication received through OBTs. Policy alerts are considered the most annoying. ImportantOBTcapabilities For travelers, policycompliance is the mostimportant feature ofcompany OBTs,followed by disruptionmanagement andexpense integration. OBTimprovements The ability to savefavorite hotels for easyrebooking and simplerflight comparison are thetop two improvementsthat would make thebiggest difference fortravelers.
