Key Findings The most dramatic change in this year’s survey data was a significant drop in the median total compensation for2024 and 2025, compared to 2023. Several possible factors may have contributed to this decrease, withwidespread restructuring in the tech industry (and the ripple effects) likely to be the primary culprit. As in last year’s survey, a sizeable majority of respondents still consider their tech role to be secure. There is,however, a growing number of participants who no longer consider their role (or their career path in IT) to besecure, compared to responses in 2024 and 2023. The same top five knowledge areas have been rated as the most valuable skills for career development for thethird consecutive year. Training in new technologies and cybersecurity remain a priority for this audience. Following last year’s survey findings, AI continues to be primarily a net positive for businesses and theiremployees. Even so, anxieties persist for many regarding how AI will affect tech sector jobs in the medium andlong term. For the majority of respondents, monetary compensation was by far the most important motivator for beingsatisfied in their current position or moving on to a new role. The trends observed in this year’s data also suggestthat work-life balance, remote working, and flexible working were valued highly by most survey participants. 2025 US Tech & IT Salary Report Salary & Bonus Most notable in this year’s compensation data was the significant dropin median salary*compared to 2023(Figure 4). From $145,000 in2023 (and $140,000 in 2022), the median salary for 2024 decreased to$115,000. While the audience’s estimates for 2025 compensationincreased slightly to a median of $125,000 – this figure still remains farbelow the medians reported for 2023 and 2022. Median SalariesWhat was your annual total compensation (your base salary and any bonuses) in 2024? InformationWeek believes the reduced median salary could beprimarily caused by participants reporting partial income for the year, likely due to recent restructuring at tech organizations across the US. A small number of respondents (3%) reported not working at the timeof completing the survey, due to furlough, redundancy, or retirement.Comments relating to previous (as well as potential, future)redundancies were also prevalent in questions surroundingcompensation, job security, and job satisfaction.
