Thosefeatures may save your organization steps in dealing with theIRS and allow for quicker access to information than can beobtained by phone. In early April, the Internal Revenue Service(IRS) expanded access to its online businesstax account (BTA) portal to include tax-exemptorganizations. For additional information about BTAs, please visit theIRS’official website. Remember to keep your log-in informationsecure, but available to more than one officer or director. Use of the BTA may simplifydealings with the IRS and allow you to avoid mailings to theIRS, as well as long waits on phone lines. It hasbeen available in the past to certain business entities. The IRS requires a designated official (DO) to register onbehalf of the organization.
