Accessibility was akey factor during site‑selection, with the chosensite being ideally located in the heart of the citycentre, providing multiple routes via private, public and active travel. – Economic: Attracting people to the river createsopportunities for further development along theunderutilised riverbanks. There is potential fornew restaurants, cafes and bars, as well as leisurevenues such as saunas. So that people mightenjoy a sauna then a cold plunge in the river. The river was the sourceof opportunity for generations of working‑classfamilies who worked in the shipyards and it wasa key transport link, connecting Glasgow to theworld. This projectwould enhance Glasgow’s portfolio of sportingand entertainment venues and create newopportunities for swimming and water sportsevents in the heart of the city.
