A 31-Country IpsosGlobal Advisor SurveyOctober 2024 Key findings Younger generations missingwork due to stress Globally most people havebeen feeling stressed Young women arestruggling the most Just over three in five (62%) onaverage across 31 countries, saythey have felt stressed to thepoint where it had an impact ontheir daily life at least once. Levelsof reported stress range from ahigh of 76% in Türkiye to a low of44% in Japan. Gen Z females are the most likelycohort to say they experiencelow points, with 40% at a globallevel saying they have feltdepressed to the point that theyfelt sad or hopeless almost everyday for a couple of weeks ormore, several times. A majority (54%, Global CountryAverage) of Gen Z say they have feltstressed to the point that theycould not go to work during the pastyear; the figure for Millennials isslightly lower (47%). More generally,older people are less likely to reportfeeling stressed on each elementasked about in our survey. Mental health is still thenumber one concern Health of mind and body seenas equal… …But healthcare systems seento prioritise physical issues Just over three in four (76%) saymental and physical health areequally important, with a majority inall 31 countries saying this is thecase. While mind and body are seenas equal, people are more likely tosay they often think about theirphysical (72%) versus their mentalwellbeing (60%). Our latestHealth Service Reportfinds 45% cite mental health as oneof the main health issues facingtheir nation. Cancer is second with38% and stress follows with 31%mentioning it across 31 countries. The public believe the emphasis byhealthcare professionals is oftenstill on the body. 41% say physicalhealth is treated as more importantthan mental health by their country’scurrent healthcare system, 13% saymental health is treated as moreimportant and 31% say both aretreated equally.
