GenAI willreconfigure decision-making, operations and the workforce, redefining what ispossible throughout the manufacturing value chain. GenAI is top of mind for manufacturers as they look for waysto integrate intelligent models into core operations at scale. It promises to transform traditional operations with smartsystems that improve production while fostering innovation, sustainability and workforce empowerment. In fact, satisfaction with GenAI efforts has surged 79% ina single year, and organizations with more establishedcapabilities are reaping the benefits. This satisfaction reflectsthe progress manufacturers have made in evaluating GenAIand preparing the business to take advantage ofthe opportunity. And, just as GenAI has performance-jumped more traditionalAI, the rise of agentic AI is magnifying the impact of GenAI.Powerful autonomous decision-making, action execution andadaptability combine with orchestration, coordination andmanagement to turbocharge GenAI. •94% expect the integration of IoT data into GenAI modelsto significantly improve the accuracy and relevance ofAI-generated outputs•91% say combining digital twins and GenAI can improveboth physical asset performance and supply chainresilience To understand the opportunity and impact it has in globalmanufacturing, we interviewed more than 500 manufacturingdecision-makers and influencers from organizations spanning34 markets around the world. At the same time, the advent of AI-driven shopfloor assistantsand autonomous agents can improve operations and minimizedisruptions. Exemplary use cases in automotive, for example, can boost resource utilization and lessen downtime. Reducedresponse time, human error, stock waste, work stoppages, urgent transports, online courts, and reworks all translate togreater efficiency and lower cost. Overall, our study found real excitement and positivityabout GenAI. •64% of manufacturers already think GenAI is agame changer•95% say it directly improves efficiency andbottom-line performance•96% believe GenAI is delivering a new level of creativityand innovation While excitement is high, progress may prove complex.Aligning AI and GenAI initiatives with business goals andinfrastructure plans is key. However, connecting strategy andtactics can be challenging, especially for those who have notyet integrated GenAI at an enterprise level. •92% of manufacturers say outdated infrastructure iscritically hindering GenAI initiatives, but fewer than halfhave conducted a full-scale infrastructure readinessassessment•88% worry about GenAI-related cybersecurity risks, butonly 18% of Chief Information Security Officers (CISOs)feel their organizations have an adequate framework inplace to balance risk and value creation•76% lack a formal GenAI usage policy for employees, withmany manufacturers moving toward AI-driven operationswithout guardrails, training or clear guidelines Manufacturers are at an inflection point. To improve theircompetitiveness, organizations must focus on blendinghuman expertise with GenAI capabilities in a way thatelevates productivity, quality and innovation. This report provides insightsto help manufacturers responsibly: 2Fast-track GenAI implementation andvalue realization1Establish governance and decision-makingframeworks for GenAI3Prepare and empower the workforce tothrive with GenAI The GenAI landscapein manufacturing Manufacturers are building smart factories to improveefficiency, productivity and resilience. These factories willprovide a competitive advantage in an Industry 4.0 landscape, and GenAI is foundational in developing the smart capabilitiesmanufacturers need. Half of all manufacturers have already begun assessing theopportunity for GenAI across the enterprise. Over 9 in 10 willhave done so by the end of 2025. Among users, 96% say GenAIis delivering a new level of creativity and innovation. Morethan 1 in 3 have evidence of it accelerating researchand development (R&D) and product development. When successfully integrated into core operations, GenAIprovides powerful tools to im
