Over the past decade, Cambodia has maderemarkable strides in improving health outcomes, driven by strong government leadership, dedicated health professionals and the resilience of its communities. Neonatal and under-5mortality rates more than halved between 2014 and 2022, immunization rates remain high, and there has been significant progress on the prevention and control – and the eventualelimination – of critical communicable diseases. The number of reported malaria cases islower than ever, and it has been six years since the last malaria death was recorded. The country’s health system has been expanded and strengthened, especially during theRoyal Government of Cambodia’s effective response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Still, thejourney towards universal health coverage and sustainable development continues to presentchallenges. The quality of public health services and access to services without sufferingfinancial hardship remain a concern. The risk of public health emergencies is ever present, including those due to emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, along with public healthrisks related to climate change and natural disasters. The rapid increase of noncommunicablediseases will be further exacerbated by an ageing population. This Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) emphasizes strengthening health systems, enhancinghealth security and promoting health equity. It contributes to the realization of thePentagonalStrategy – Phase 1: Growth, Employment, Equity, Efficiency and Sustainability: Building theFoundation Towards Realizing the Cambodia Vision 2050, which highlights
