While celebrating a decade of unified globalambition, this milestone underscores an urgent reality: only five yearsremain to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Withonly five years remaining to achieve the SDGs, the global communitymust intensify efforts to fulfill the 2030 Agenda. At the same time,this urgency drives the critical need to proactively begin shaping thepost-2030 development framework, referred to as the XDGs 2045, thenext generation of yet-to-be-defined global goals. Recognizing thisimportant moment, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has led globalefforts since 2023, championing strategic dialogues and collaborativeaction through the SDGs in Action at the World Governments Summit(WGS) to support the foundational blocks of the XDGs 2045. Despite sizable efforts, the SDGs continue toface challenges from persistent inequalities,technological disparities, and climate warnings.As highlighted in the UN Secretary-General’sSDG progress report (April 2024), the SDGsare 17% on track, around half show minimal tomoderate progress, while over one-third of theindicators have stalled or regressed.
