ObjectivesThe objectives of the manpower updateare:(i)to examine the latesttrends anddevelopmentsinthe industries;(ii)to explore the job market situationand training needs;(iii)toidentifychallenges; and(iv)to recommend measures to meet thetrainingneeds and to ease theproblem of manpower shortage. 2therecruitment 2024 Manpower Update Report ofElectronics and TelecommunicationsIndustriesMethodologyOverviewThis update report aims to providequalitativedescriptions of the recentdevelopmentof the industries throughfocus group meetings, supplemented byreferringto some quantitative data ofrecruitmentadvertisements from deskresearch.Focus Group MeetingThefocusgroupmembersrepresentatives from thesectors of theelectronicsandtelecommunicationsindustries, including1.Manufacturing,2.TelecommunicationsServices,3.ITServicesforEC Industries,4.EngineeringServices for EC Industries,5.ElectronicsTrading orWholesaleor Retail,6.StartupinElectronic Product Design,7.EmergingTechnologyCompaniesaboutRobotics /AI/IoT/Big Data,8.RelevantDepartmentin University,and 9.theElectricalandMechanicalServicesDepartment.Twofocusgroupmeetingswereconducted on14and18December2023with discussion on topics selected by theWorking Party on Manpower Survey of theECTB.Thediscussions were recordedand transcribed to facilitate analysis.
