ObjectivesThe objectives of the manpower updatereportare:(i)to examine the latest trends anddevelopmentsof the real estateservicesindustry;(ii)toexplore the job market situationand recruitmentchallenges;(iii)to identify the training needs; and(iv)to recommend measures tomeettraining needs and ease theproblem ofmanpowershortage. andofThe 2 2024 Manpower Update Report forthe Real Estate Services IndustryMethodologyOverviewThismanpowerupdate report aims to providethe latest development of the real estateservicesindustry through views collected from a focus group meeting, supplemented bydesk researchon job advertisements from major recruitment portals.FocusGroup MeetingThe focus group meeting was conducted on13September2024and the topics discussedweresupported bytheRETB.To collect the best insightspossible, the focus groupmembers are representatives fromthefollowingsectors:a.Real Estate Development;b.Real Estate Agency;c.Property Management and Maintenance;andd.Real Estate Surveying, Valuation and Consultancy.Thediscussion at thefocus groupmeeting wasrecorded and transcribed to facilitateanalysis.Desk ResearchAn information system was developed to capture relevant recruitment data from majoronline recruitment portals, covering the periodfromSeptember2023 andAugust2024.Collected information was mapped against the list of companies related to thereal estateservicesindustry under the Hong Kong Standard Industrial Classification devised by theCensus and Statistics Department.After mapping and removal of duplicated records, atotal of48,179recruitment records were collected during the research periodand servedas indicative information of the job market trend. 3 2024 Manpower Update Report forthe Real Estate Services IndustryData AnalysisThe analysis consists of three steps:LimitationsAs this is notamanpowersurvey, the findings and recommendations of the focus groupmeeting are more qualitative in nature and the report focusesonthe manpower trends.The informationof job advertisements was collected from major recruitment portals,suchasCPJobs, CTGoodJobs, JobsDB, Recruit and Labour Department.Other channels, suchasrecruitment through HR vendors and referrals, were not covered.Since the dataiswithoutreference to any historical data, this can only be served as supplementaryinformation tothe findings of the focus group meeting.(1)Collect qualitativeinformation fromfocus group(3)Analyse both qualitative and quantitativeinformation with input fromMembers ofRETB information fromdesk research 4 2024 Manpower Update Report forthe Real Estate Services IndustryFindingsFactors Affecting theIndustryDevelopmentAgeingDemographic ShiftOpportunities in Ageing PopulationAccording to the "Hong KongPopulationProjection 2020-2069" published by theCensus and Statistics Department, it isestimated that the elderlypopulationaged65 andabovewill increase from 20.8% in2022to 31%in 2039.attributed toincreased life expectancyanddeclining birth rates.Asawareness of these demographicchangesgrows,there is a uniqueopportunityfor developers to invest inresidentialprojectsthatessential featuresfor older adultssuch aselevators,ramps,wideraccessiblebathrooms,flooring.Furthermore, the integration ofsmart home technologies can si
