We’ve also surveyed academic and ITleaders, educators, and students from around the world;explore the extended survey datafor more insights. AIistransformingnearlyeveryaspectofoursociety,fromhowworkgetsdonetohowcompaniesoperate.It’schanginghowwetalkwithourdoctors,ouremployees,andourcustomers,bridginglanguagegapsandhelpinguscommunicatemoreclearlyandeffectively.Andit’stransformingeducationtoo. Acrosstheglobe,educatorsareusingAItoincreasestudentagency,givingthemagreatersenseofownershipoverhowtheylearn.EducationleadersandinstitutionsareleveragingAItoenhanceoperationalandadministrativeprocessesandaretappingintoreal-timedatatoimprovestudentsuccess.AndanexcitingshiftisstartingwhenitcomestothebenefitsofusingAI—nolongerjustatimesaver,itcanempowereveryonetoreimagineopportunitiesforthefutureofeducationtogether. A follow-up to ourAI in Education Report in 2024, thisyear’s edition reveals much about the ongoing evolution ofAI in education, from how audiences feel about it to howit’s being used in education today—and how it might beused in the future. ASteepAdoptionCurve •ThepercentageofstudentsandeducatorsintheUS1whosaytheyuseAI“often”forschool-relatedpurposesjumpedfromlastyearby26pointsand21points,respectively. •TheportionofUSstudentswhosaytheyhaveneverusedAIdroppedby20pointsfromlastyear. •Notably,whilemostrespondentsinallgroupshaveusedAIatleastonce(withmanywhouseitdailyorweekly),lessthanhalfofeducatorsandstudentssaidtheyknewalotaboutit,adisconnectthatpointstotheimportanceofAIdiscussions,training,andliteracy. •Discovermoreinsightsintheextendedsurveydata. AIforStudents Students’familiarity,use,andcomfortwithAIhasincreaseddramatically;theyoftenuseittosavetime,improvework,andassistwithlearning. InarecentstudyfromAustralia,universitystudentswhousedanAI-poweredchatbotsawanearly10%improvementontheirexamgradesoverpeerswhoweren’tusingthetech.Predictably,AIusepeakedduringtheweekendbeforethefinalexam;afterthetest,72%ofusersstatedtheywouldbeverydisappointediftheycouldn’tuseitagain. AIforEducators Creatingmaterialsforclassandansweringcommonquestionsfromstudentsaretime-consumingjobsforeducators,whoincreasinglyleverageAItosupportthesecoretasks.ManyhavealsoexpandedtheiruseofAItohelpstudentslearninsideandoutsideoftheclassroom. TheEducationAuthorityofNorthernIreland,whichencompasses21,000educatorsand380,000students,integratedMicrosoft365Copilottoreduceteacherworkload,enablingthemtomorequicklypreparelessonmaterialslikePowerPointpresentationsanddevelopresourcematerialsthatcanaddressdiverselearningstyles. FacultyattheUniversityofManchesterareusingMicrosoft365Copilottosupportcurriculumdevelopmentanddesign,expediteresearchprocesses,tailorlearningmaterials,andsavetime.They’realsofocusingonsharingknowledge,buildingAIskills,andexploringthepotentialofagents.
