PositiveExperienceIndexReboundComplete Youngpeoplemorepositiveandbouncedbackmorequickly Theworldwasbesetbyconflictin2023—asthewarbetweenUkraineandRussiadraggedonandanewonebrokeoutbetweenIsraelandHamas—butitwasinabetterplaceemotionallythanitwasattheheightofthepandemic.Globally,positiveemotionsreturnedtotheirpre-pandemiclevelsin2023. Asithaseveryyearforthepast18years,Gallupin2023askedadultsaroundtheworldiftheyhadfivepositiveexperiencesonthedaybeforethesurvey. Lastyear,threeofthefiveemotionswerestablecomparedwiththepreviousyear.Oversevenin10peopleworldwidesaidtheyfeltwell-rested(71%),experiencedalotofenjoyment(73%),orsmiledorlaughedalot(73%). Withanoverallscoreof74,peopleyoungerthan30continuedtobethemostpositiveofallagegroups.Further,theirpositivityreboundedfaster,withemotionsreturningtopre-pandemiclevelsayearearlierthantheirolderpeers.Mostoftheimprovementontheindexin2023tookplaceamongthoseaged30andolder.
