-Directinvestment isthecategoryofcross-borderinvestment(equity,intercompanydebtssuchas loans,etc.)madebyaresidentinoneeconomywith theaimofcontrolling orexercisingasignificant degreeofinfluence onthe management ofan enterprisethat isresidentinanothereconomy.As ageneralrule,an investmentwhoseinvestoracquiresequitywith anentitlementto atleast10%ofthe voting rightsinthe investedenterprise falls intothis category.
