Introduction
The report underscores the significance of fostering gender equality and enhancing women's economic engagement for Kosovo's development path. It highlights that active engagement, cultivation, and optimization of diverse talents and abilities, particularly from underrepresented segments, are crucial for sustained progress in poverty alleviation and shared prosperity.
Recent decades have witnessed some advancements in gender equality in Kosovo, such as reduced gender disparities in education, increased female life expectancy, and a slight increase in political participation. However, persistent disparities exist in various areas including the labor market, entrepreneurship, earnings, occupational segregation, unpaid labor, and violence against women.
The Country Gender Assessment employs the Gender Assessment framework outlined in the World Development Report on Gender Equality and Development (WDR 2012). This report evaluates recent advancements and ongoing challenges across three core domains: Endowments, Economic Opportunities, and Voice and Agency. The analysis draws from extensive research using various data sources to assess indicators related to health, education, labor market dynamics, and gender-based violence.
