Special Issue Overview: Health Capacity to Work Among Older Persons in Asia

The demographic shift towards aging populations in Asia has prompted a critical examination of health capacities and work potential among older adults across various nations. This special issue, published by the Asian Development Review, compiles findings from a regional comparative study conducted by the Asian Development Bank. Comparative Studies: This is one of the pioneering large-scale comparative studies focusing on population aging across Asia. It aimed to establish benchmarks for policy assessment through coherent cross-country comparisons.
Methodological Consensus: Seven country teams collaborated to develop harmonized data and empirical methods to evaluate the health capacity to work among older persons, considering diverse stages of demographic transition and varying labor force participation policies.
