This paper examines the role of climate and trade policies in promoting the diffusion of low carbon technologies (LCTs) through trade. The study uses a comprehensive database of climate policies and a new database of LCT imports and tariffs to show that the introduction of new climate policies has a positive and significant impact on LCT imports. The study also highlights the role of trade policies in promoting LCT diffusion, with reductions in tariffs applied on LCT goods having a significant impact on LCT imports. Overall, the paper suggests that climate and trade policies can play a crucial role in promoting the diffusion of LCTs and reducing carbon emissions.
