The Her4Climate tool is a participatory assessment tool developed by Cities Alliance and Arup to mainstream gender considerations in climate adaptation. It is designed for international development practitioners, in-country facilitators, government representatives, and urban professionals. The tool focuses on the knowledge and capacities of women in urban areas, providing a framework for understanding women's exposure and their capacity to respond to climate impacts. The tool is based on six domains: governance and decision-making, health and wellbeing, built and natural environments, education, work and care duties, water, sanitation, and hygiene, food security, ecosystems, infrastructure, mobility, housing, security of tenure, disability/illness, community cohesiveness, climate hazards awareness, technology, financing for adaptation and action plans, and civic engagement and political leadership. The tool provides a structured approach for assessing responses to climate impacts in cities, with a focus on gender-sensitive considerations.
