This connection is essentialfor a sustainable and thriving future. It is this principle that underpinsour support for the vital work of Outdoor Wildlife Learning Hong Kong(OWLHK). Since 2023, the Trust has been delighted to support a significant OWLHKprogramme dedicated to reconnecting Hong Kong’s children with thenatural world. This work is multifaceted, focusing on strengthening thequality and availability of outdoor environmental education, while alsoadvocating for its wider adoption across schools and the community.We believe that by embedding a love and understanding of nature froma young age, we can cultivate a generation of informed and passionatestewards for our environment. A particularly important aspect of this initiative is its pioneeringresearch component. For the first time in Hong Kong, a comprehensivebaseline survey was conducted to properly understand the state ofour children’s connection to nature. This book presents the tangibleresults of that endeavour. This evidence will provide us all, educators,community leaders, and policymakers, with invaluable data. It will movethe conversation beyond assumption, offering a clear-eyed view of thechallenges and opportunities within environmental education. This, inturn, will allow for more targeted and effective strategies, ensuring thatour efforts make a tangible difference. This work has also resonated on a more personal note. I must confess,I too have been guilty of putting off that walk in the park or momentof outdoor discovery with my own children, letting the busyness oflife get in the way. But OWLHK’s work has been a wonderful reminderthat the natural world offers wonders all around us, if we only take thetime to look. Like many adults involved, I have seen how nature createsa special spark of curiosity in children. In doing so, it gives us back ameasure of the pure joy we remember from our own childhoods. It isa joy I now promise to nurture more consciously with my own family. We are thrilled to have been part of this journey and to see these insightsshared so widely. 序言Preface 十二年前，當我還在修讀博士研究香港環境教育之時，我看到了一篇來自英國的新聞，報導有研究顯示「英國每五名兒童，有四名與大自然失去連繫」。當時感覺震撼，心想如果在香港進行類似研究，不知結果會是怎樣。 而香港戶外生態教育協會（OWLHK）成立至今，我們一直努力推動戶外環境教育在香港的推行與發展。可是，因香港十分缺乏這方面的研究和數據，所以過往我與不同持扮者探討這議題時，都顯得格外困難。 猶 幸 ， 念 念 不 忘 ， 必 有 迴 響 ， 十 分 感 謝 太 古 集 團慈善信託基金的支持，OWLHK於2023年開展了「Nurturevia Nature：香港學童自然連結感研究及戶外環境教育推廣計劃項目」。項目的重點，是與香港科技大學社會科學部談儉邦教授合作，進行了兩項香港首次的基線研究，包括：「全港學童與家長自然連結感」基線調查以及「全港小學戶外環境教育」基線調查。另外，我們亦與六間小學合作，進行了一系列戶外環境教育活動及研究，以探討如何設計和進行高成效的戶外環境教育。 馬昀祺博士 香港戶外生態教育協會創辦人及教育總監 Dr. Xoni Kwan-Ki MA Founder and Education Director,Outdoor Wildlife Learning Hong Kong 本報告輯錄了以上三大研究的重點分析和結果，以作為本港推展學校環境教育的重要參考和指標。得此基線數據，我們便可有一系列的客觀標準，以訂立明確且可達的未來目標，讓環境教育持續進步的同時，其成效更可促進社會的可持續發展及市民的福祉。 此項目和各項研究能夠順利完成，實在有賴多方的鼎力支持。衷心感謝太古基金團隊的信任和支持、談 教 授 及 其 團 隊 和 我 們 並 肩 合 作 ；
