Acrossproduction, consumption and trade, volumes remained under pressure,but overall market balances stayed broadly contained, supported by loweroutput, gradual stock adjustment and the high level of internationalisation Key Highlights •Vineyard Surface Area:The global vineyard surface areadeclined by 0.8% in 2025 to 7.0 million hectares, markingthe sixth consecutive year of contraction. This confirmsan ongoing adjustment in the global vineyard, driven by •Wine Production:Global wine production is estimated at227 mhl in 2025, only 0.6% above the historically low levelof 2024. This marks the third consecutive year of low globaloutput, reflecting the combined effect of climatic volatility andproduction adjustments linked to softer demand conditions. •Wine Consumption:World wine consumption is estimatedat 208 mhl in 2025, down 2.7% compared with 2024. Thisevolution reflects the interaction of long-term structuralshifts in mature markets, changing consumer behaviour andrecent economic pressures on purchasing power. With nine •International Trade in Wine:Global trade in 2025 wasshaped above all by heightened trade uncertainty associatedwith US tariff measures, together with weaker demand inseveral major import markets. World wine exports declined to94.8 mhl (-4.7%), while export value fell to 33.8 bn EUR (-6.7%),reflecting both lower traded volumes and moderate price 1lVineyard surface area 1.1 • World vineyard In 2025, the world’s vineyard surface area1stands at7.0 million hectares, marking a slight decrease of 0.8%compared to 2024.This confirms the continuation of Thistrend reflects a reduction in vineyard surfaceareaacross major vine-growing countries in bothhemispheres, with only a few exceptions.
