The objectives of the manpower updatereport are: (i)to examine the latest trends anddevelopments of the industry;(ii)to explore the job market situationand recruitment challenges;(iii)to identify the training needs; and(iv)to recommend measures to meettrainingneeds and ease themanpower shortage problem. To better capture workforce dynamics,AMTBconductsacomprehensivequantitative manpower survey every fouryears, complemented by two manpowerupdates focused on qualitative insights.The manpower survey was completed in2022, with the first manpower updatedeliveredin 2025 and the second in2026. This manpower update report consists of:(a)insights from a focus group of industryexpertscovering recent industrydevelopments,workforce demand,recruitmentdifficulties,trainingneeds, and recommended measuresto address the challenges the industryfaces; and (b)desk research and analysis ofrecruitmentinformation obtainedfrom major recruitment platforms. Methodology Overview Department.Aftermappingandde-duplication of records, a total of 3,862job advertisements were collected duringtheresearch period and served asindicative information of the job markettrend. Thismanpower update report aims toprovidethe latest development of theadvanced manufacturing industry throughviewscollected from a focus groupmeeting, supplemented by desk researchonjob advertisements from majorrecruitment platforms. Data Analysis The analysis consists of three steps: Focus Group Meeting The focus group meeting was conductedon8 December 2025 and the topicsdiscussed were supported by the AMTB.To collect the best insights possible, thecomposition of the focus group membersincluded the industry leaders, technologyproviders, academic experts and trainingspecialist.The discussion at the focusgroupmeetingwasrecordedandtranscribed to facilitate analysis. Desk Research An information system was developed tocapture relevant recruitment data frommajor online recruitment portals, coveringtheperiod from December 2024 andNovember 2025.Collected informationwas mapped against the list of relatedsectorsundertheadvancedmanufacturing industry under the HongKong Standard Industrial Classificationdevisedby the Census and Statistics Limitations As this is not a manpower survey, thefindingsand recommendations of thefocus group meeting are more qualitativein nature, and the report focuses on themanpowertrends.Thejobadvertisementswere collected frommajorrecruitment portals,such asCPJobs, CTGoodJobs, JobsDB, Recruit andLabourDepartment.Otherchannels,suchas recruitment through humanresources vendors and referrals, were notcovered.Sincethe data does notreference to any historical data, this canonly serve as supplementary informationto the findings of the focus group meeting. Findings Factors Affecting the Industry Development HongKong is strategically positioningitselfasahubforadvancedmanufacturing,leveragingitsadvantageouslocation,robustinfrastructure,and dynamic businesslandscape.Thisshift from traditionalmanufacturingtotechnology-drivenprocesses, marked by the integration ofautomation,artificial intelligence,andadvanced data analytics, necessitates awell-structured environment to meet theunique demands of this industry.Tofosterinnovation,enhancecompetitiveness, and secure its positionasaleaderintheadvancedmanufacturing arena, Hong Kong mustaddress several critical factors: the-artfacilities and sophisticatedlogistics systems, is fundamental foradvancedmanufacturing.Suchupgrades are not merely beneficial butessentialtoeffectivelysupportcomplex, high-tech operations.Theyareinstrumental in guaranteeinghighly efficient production workflowsand establishing robust, agile supplychains,whicharecriticalformaintainingcompetitive advantageandmeetingdynamicmarketdemands. •AccesstoFinancialResources:Facilitating robust access to diversefundingmechanisms,includingv
