Legislativepreparations in full swing The ECB appreciates:•theagreementreached by the Council of the European Union’s agreement on itsnegotiating position on theproposed digital euro Regulation;•thecontributionsof several Member States, includingFinland, in highlighting how the digital euro can enhancethe resilience of euro area payments;•thediscussionsin the European Parliament on theproposal, expected to reach a conclusive position inMay. The decision on whether to issue the digital euro will onlybe considered by the ECB’s Governing Councilonce thelegislation has been adopted.
