About the Startup Coalition The Startup Coalition, formerly The Coalition for a Digital Economy (Coadec), is an independent advocacy groupthat serves as the policy voice for Britain’s technology-led startups and scale ups. We were founded in 2010 by Mike Butcher, Editor-at-Large of technology news publisher TechCrunch, and JeffLynn, Chairman and Co-Founder of online investment platform Seedrs. We fight for a policy environment that enables early-stage British tech companies to grow, scale and competeglobally. We have over 2500 startups in our network and have been instrumental in building proactive coalitions ofbusinesses and investors on issues that are integral to the health of the UK’s startup ecosystem. These are young, scalable tech companies, with highpotential for growth. Startups are also incredibly high risk companies that rely on a supportive environment to growand thrive. We interact with policymakers all the time, and we know that bringing startups’ issues to the right people The data on national and regional rankings was gathered from Beauhurst in May 2023, looking at the concentrationof startups across the UK, broken down by constituency. We used data based on the location of the company’sHead Office and only included companies with an active Companies House status. This data includes startups at Beauhurst tracking is based on a number of triggers, including investment, being part of an accelerator programme,being spun out of a university, and others.
