Acrosstheglobe,educatorsareusingAItoincreasestudentagency,givingthemagreatersenseofownershipoverhowtheylearn.EducationleadersandinstitutionsareleveragingAItoenhanceoperationalandadministrativeprocessesandaretappingintoreal-timedatatoimprovestudentsuccess.AndanexcitingshiftisstartingwhenitcomestothebenefitsofusingAI—nolongerjustatimesaver,itcanempowereveryonetoreimagineopportunitiesforthefutureofeducationtogether. ASteepAdoptionCurve •ThepercentageofstudentsandeducatorsintheUS1whosaytheyuseAI“often”forschool-relatedpurposesjumpedfromlastyearby26pointsand21points,respectively. •TheportionofUSstudentswhosaytheyhaveneverusedAIdroppedby20pointsfromlastyear. •Notably,whilemostrespondentsinallgroupshaveusedAIatleastonce(withmanywhouseitdailyorweekly),lessthanhalfofeducatorsandstudentssaidtheyknewalotaboutit,adisconnectthatpointstotheimportanceofAIdiscussions,training,andliteracy. •Discovermoreinsightsintheextendedsurveydata. AIforStudents Students’familiarity,use,andcomfortwithAIhasincreaseddramatically;theyoftenuseittosavetime,improvework,andassistwithlearning. InarecentstudyfromAustralia,universitystudentswhousedanAI-poweredchatbotsawanearly10%improvementontheirexamgradesoverpeerswhoweren’tusingthetech.Predictably,AIusepeakedduringtheweekendbeforethefinalexam;afterthetest,72%ofusersstatedtheywouldbeverydisappointediftheycouldn’tuseitagain. AIforEducators Creatingmaterialsforclassandansweringcommonquestionsfromstudentsaretime-consumingjobsforeducators,whoincreasinglyleverageAItosupportthesecoretasks.ManyhavealsoexpandedtheiruseofAItohelpstudentslearninsideandoutsideoftheclassroom. TheEducationAuthorityofNorthernIreland,whichencompasses21,000educatorsand380,000students,integratedMicrosoft365Copilottoreduceteacherworkload,enablingthemtomorequicklypreparelessonmaterialslikePowerPointpresentationsanddevelopresourcematerialsthatcanaddressdiverselearningstyles.
