Vital Energy和SoftServe联手优化气举系统并提高生产率

Providing more sustainable and abundant energy to help peoplelive better, healthier, and more prosperously has always been thegoal of our clientVital Energy (previously known as LaredoPetroleum). to Vital Energy and has helped them leverage data and develop AIalgorithms to boost their digital effectiveness. Vital Energy's business relies heavily on artificial lift systems.Selecting the correct operating parameters for the lift systemsis a significant challenge, and getting it right is essential formaintaining a safe working environment while maximizing wellproductivity. Fortunately, intelligent technologies such as artificialintelligence (AI), machine learning (ML), the internet of things(IoT), and data science have simplified monitoring, analysis, andoptimization tasks. These intelligent tools enable operatorsto identify potential problems and recommend optimal operationparameters, leading to increased oil and gas production. Vital Energy is an innovative energy company that explores, acquires, and develops oil and gas resources in the largest andmost productive hydrocarbon region in the world, the PermianBasin. The company is focused on energizing human potentialwhile seeking new and better ways to responsibly produce energyto sustain our world. Digital transformation is a strategy that Vital Energy activelyembraces. SoftServe is a key engineering and consulting partner BUSINESS CHALLENGE Gas lift systems are commonly used in the oil andgas industry to lift fluids from wells to the surface. While gas lift systems can be effective and havemany advantages, there are challenges that canaffect their performance and reliability. Thesechallenges typically center around operationalregimes and reservoir parameters such as: Other challenges are more about equipmentreliability, well integrity, and mistakes in initialwell design: Hole in the tubing is a common problem for wellsboth free-flowing and on artificial lifts. For gas lift-operated wells this is particularly pricy due to highlosses in production and downtime needed todeal with the problem. Some of those “holes” areoften caused by corrosion and erosion processes, some by leaky injection valves or tubing joints. Finding the optimal injection rate can bechallenging due to factors such as wellboregeometry, fluid properties, and reservoirconditions. If the injection rate is too high, itcan lead to gas channeling, which reduces theeffectiveness of the system. If the injection rateis too low, it can lead to insufficient gas lift, whichreduces production. Faced with these challenges, Vital Energy wantedto create data- and knowledge-driven solutionsto help with gas lift system optimization, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Vital Energy selected SoftServe as their projectpartner due, in part, to our extensive expertisein the energy domain, particularly inimplementing various types of artificial liftsystems. In addition, our expertise extends to bigdata, data science, ML technologies, and AWS services. Maintaining consistent injection pressure.Ensuring that the injection pressure of gasremains stable is crucial to effectively operatinggas lift systems. Key challenges are aroundfluctuations in reservoir pressure, alterationsin wellbore geometry, and changes in fluidcomposition during production. Often a signof insufficient injection pressure is gasslippage — when gas escapes around the outsideof the tubing instead of lifting the fluidsto the surface. THE APPROACH This is not the first project SoftServehas done for Vital Energy. Previously, webuilt an ESP Well Optimization solutionleveraging AI algorithms to automaticallyadjust back pressure, pump speed, andother settings to maximize productionand well life. To better understand the client's business needs and requirements, the SoftServe team initiated the discovery phase and conductedworkshops. Following this, we provided proof of concept (PoC) todemonstrate the solution's feasibility, and the team will now workon developing the full-scale software solution. SoftServe paid special attention to Vital Energy’s needs andrequirements. The team adopted an agile approach and quicklyadapted to changing circumstances as they arose. Our expertsproposed various enhancements that helped Vital Energy improveits processes. An anomaly detection algorithmthat is pointed for early signs ofa hole in the tubing and scalebuilt-up was developed. We developed data processingand visualization parts:including a set of automatedscripts (IPython notebooks)and a dashboard with wellproduction optimizations andthe anomaly detection model. Our experts implementedvarious calculation processes, including gas gravity and molarmass, gas amount, temperatureand pressure time-seriesdecomposition, GLR, criticalvel
