Foreword This report presents the findings of the OECD’s assessment ofFair Wear Foundation’s brand performancechecks and related policies, tools and guidanceagainst the recommendations ofOECD Due DiligenceGuidance for Responsible Supply Chains in the Garment & Footwear Sector(OECD, 2018[1])(hereafterOECD Garment Guidance).The initial, fullassessmentoccurredbetween 2020and2022, followed by are-assessment of revised standardsin 2024. Theassessmentof Fair Wear Foundationfalls within the OECD’songoingpilot project ofalignmentassessmentsin the garment and footwear sector. Itis the fourth pilot assessment conducted by the OECD.Completed assessments arepublicly availableon the OECD’s website(OECD, n.d.[2]).Pleaserefer to theassessment methodology(OECD, 2024[3])for further details. TheOECD Garment Guidance providesenterprisesin the garment and footwear sectorwithstep-by-steprecommendationstoconduct risk-based due diligencein order toidentify and address the most severeand likely risks and impacts in their operations and supply chains. The Guidance is relevant for allenterprises in the sector,at all stages of the supply chain. This includes, among others, retailers, brands,manufacturers, textile producers, global commodities traders, ginnersandraw material producers. The OECD Secretariat would like to thankFair Wear Foundationfor its willingness to volunteer for analignment assessment andacknowledge the time and effort spentbyFair Wear Foundationstaffand thesizeable steps Fair Wear has taken to strengthen alignment with OECD due diligence standards. This assessment and report was prepared and carried out withco-fundingfromthe European Union. By starting thealignment assessment process and using the alignment assessment tool (AAT)(OECD,n.d.[4]), initiatives agree to abide byterms and conditions of use(OECD, 2024[5]).The use of thealignment assessment tool and completion of an OECD alignment assessment does not imply anyendorsement by or affiliation with the OECD. For an initiative to claim to be aligned withOECD DueDiligence Guidance(standards or implementation),it must achieve a rating of ‘fullyaligned’ in the overallconclusion of the relevant section of the alignment assessment.
