GNSS and Secure SATCOM User Technology Report 2025 / ISSUE 1 Dear Reader, The space industry is rapidly evolving as we enter a new era of satellite communications and GNSS advancements. Agile New Space players are leveraging thesetrends to create services which benefit a wide range of users in both the public and private sectors. Secure satellite communications (secure SATCOM) and GNSS are crucial for ensuring the resilience and strategic autonomy of the European Union and its MemberStates, both in space and on the ground. The European Union is actively working on the deployment of GOVSATCOM, with EUSPA implementing the GOVSATCOM Hub. In addition, the EU is preparingthe ambitious IRIS², the new Secure Connectivity Programme. These systems will complement the existing EU Space Programme’s components for Navigation(Galileo and EGNOS), Earth Observation (Copernicus), and Space Situational Awareness. In this context, EUSPA drafted the first edition of the GNSS and Secure SATCOM User Technology Report. This report is designed to offer you a comprehensiveunderstanding of the latest developments and trends in Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and secure Satellite Communications (SATCOM), two pivotaltechnologies that are increasingly intertwined and essential in our modern world. The rapid evolution of GNSS technology is reshaping how we perceive and interact with satellite navigation. As new frequencies and signals become available for civilian use, receiver manufacturers are continuouslyinnovating to ensure compatibility and enhanced performance, facilitating the adoption of open access signals with standardised frequency plans and modulation schemes. This global effort is s
