As a result, the retail industry underperformed inthis challenging environment. At the beginning of the Reporting Period,the majority of markets in which the Group operates were saturatedwith concerns of economic recession, which resulted in low consumerconfidence and excess inventory within the industry, leading to aprolonged flat performance of the industry from 2022 to the first half of2023. Nonetheless, the Group continued to press ahead with its forward-looking global expansion strategy amidst the headwinds, demonstratingstrong resilience and adaptability to effectively balance the challengespresent in various markets and proactively recover from the negativemarket impact and to ensure business continuity. 202320222023 2023Ipsos2023120.547.71 In the second half of 2023, the overall environment began to change.With less pressure from interest rate hikes and inflation, publicconsumption sentiment gradually rebounded. According to a surveyconducted by Ipsos in 2023, the Global Consumer Confidence Indexrecorded a month-on-month increase of 0.5 point to 47.71, indicatingan overall positive trend despite uneven performance in several areas,reflecting signs of recovery in the retail industry. In addition, thedestocking cycle in the apparel industry was also coming to an end.Although some apparel brands remained cautious, they began to restockwith new products.
