Facingthe ever-present complex external environment, we have stayed on the course of high-quality development andkept a focus on serving the development initiatives of China. We have adhered to the principles of pursuing growthsteadily, transforming while upholding fundamental principles, maintaining value orientation, keeping core businessstrength and strengthening risk prevention. We have seen steady progress made in high quality development withsteadily developed business and an increasingly solidified managerial foundation. Steady and positive business performance.2023 is the first year that we released annual results under thenew accounting standards framework. Under the new standards, the total assets of the Group exceeded HK$1.5trillion, increased by 14.2% over the 2022 year-end; total investment assets under management stood at aroundHK$2.5 trillion; profit attributable to owners was HK$6.190 billion, increased by 44.1% over the Last Year.Theinsurance businessgrew steadily. Insurance revenue and insurance service results (measured in RMB) of lifeinsurance both achieved a positive growth over the Last Year. TPL’s new business value achieved a positive growthon a relatively high base with business quality continued to improve, and the persistency ratios of bancassuranceand individual agency channels continued to lead the industry for many consecutive years. TPI’s total premiumincome for the first time broke through RMB30 billion. The P&C insurance and reinsurance have actively undergonestructural adjustment and quality improvement, and maintained underwriting profitability.The investment businesshas made more investment income. The Group’s total managed assets and insurance fund within the Group undermanagement have both increased. The Group’s total and comprehensive investment yields both recorded higherthan those of the Last Year. New achievements have been demonstrated in serving national strategies.We have fully incorporatedthe assessment of serving the national strategy into the Group’s budget and KPIs of subsidiaries where servingthe national strategy and our own high-quality development are integrated. As of the end of 2023, the Grouphas provided risk protection for the whole society of RMB137 trillion, representing an increase of 6.3% fromthe beginning of the year. In particular, the premiums of social security insurance, agricultural insurance, greeninsurance, catastrophe reinsurance and strategic emerging industry insurance all increased significantly.
