This Policy Research Working Paper examines the effectiveness of nudges, in the form of informational videos sent via WhatsApp, in increasing take-up rates among vulnerable populations, specifically Venezuelan forced migrants in Colombia. The study randomly assigned 1,375 eligible migrants to receive one of three informational videos or be in a control group. The videos aimed to address issues related to awareness, trust, and bottlenecks in the registration process. The main findings suggest that nudges can be effective in increasing take-up rates, with the group that received the videos showing a higher rate of registration compared to the control group. The study highlights the potential of using social media platforms like WhatsApp to deliver nudges and improve access to services for vulnerable populations.
