The country currently accounts for 1.40% of totalinternational tourist arrivals and 2.02% of global tourism receipts,underlining its growing relevance in international travel flows. Over the long term,ForeignTourist Arrivals(FTAs)havegrown steadily from 1.28 million in 1981to 10.93 million in 2019, crossing keymilestonesin 2011(6.31 million)and Arrivals of Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)r e a c he d1 0 . 6 2 m i l l i o n i n 2 0 2 4 ,representing a 13.22% increase over 2023anda 52.15%rise compared to pre-pandemiclevels in 2019.This strongresurgence reflects growing confidence INBOUNDTOURISM:RECOVERY I n d i a ’ si n b o u n d t o u r i s m h a sd e m o n s t r a te da r obu s t r e c o v e r ytrajectory,supported by improved Region-wise analysis for 2024 indicatesthat Asia and the Pacific accounted for thelargest share of FTAs at 43.00%, followedby Europe (26.70%) and North America(23.10%).
