A 29-CountryGlobalAdvisor Survey March 2026 What to know Struggling economies havingless of an impact on happiness People are happier than lastyear Feeling appreciated and familythe biggest drivers of happiness In 25 of the 29 countries surveyedpeople are happier than they were 12months ago. Only three countries saythey are less happy this year than in2025. On average across 29 countries,74% say they are happy, with 18%saying they are very happy. Twenty-seven per cent are not happy, with 5%not happy at all. This year people less likely to see theircountry’s economy as a source ofunhappiness than in 2025 in all but fourof the surveyed countries. In our WhatWorries the World survey we see morepeople think their country’s economy isstronger now than last year, suggestingthat the slightly improved conditionscould explain the rise in happiness thisyear. People who feel happy say feelingappreciated (37%) and theirrelationship with their family andchildren (36%) have the biggest impacton their happiness. While personalrelationships have the biggest effecton happiness, it is external factors thatdrive unhappiness. My financialsituation is seen the number one causeof what makes people unhappy (57%).This is the case for 28 of the 29countries surveyed. By country Methodology These are the results of a 29-countrysurvey conducted by Ipsos on its GlobalAdvisor online platform and, in India, onitsIndiaBusplatform, betweenWednesday, December 24, 2025 andFriday, January 9, 2026. For this survey,Ipsos interviewed a total of 23,268adults aged 18 years and older in India,18-74 in Canada, Republic of Ireland,Malaysia, South Africa, Türkiye, and theUnited States, 20-74 in Thailand, 21-74in Indonesia and Singapore, and 16-74in all other countries. The survey results for thesecountries should be viewed asreflecting the views of the more"connected" segment
