Supply Chain Tech Report 2026 EU startups are redefining technology and AIperformance Contents 4 AboutUs Foreword 8 12 5 ArtificialIntelligenceas StrategicResponse A FlipinCorporateFocus StateofSupplyChains 22 19 15 Technology InvestmentandEvolution WhereBoardsShould FocusNext TheEuropeanSupply ChainEcosystem 35 Startups toWatchand StartupOverview Foreword European supply chains are entering a new phase. After several years defined by acutedisruption — from pandemics and geopolitical shocks to inflation andcapacityshortages — the operating environment has fundamentally changed. Volatility hasbecome structural, margins are under pressure, and expectations on performance, transparency, and compliance continue to risesimultaneously. This year’s Supply Chain Tech Report reflects a clear shift in how leaders are responding. The dominant priority is no longer resilience at any cost, but disciplined performanceimprovement: reducing cost, increasing speed and agility, and extracting tangible valuefrom technology investments already made. Technology budgets are growing, but thereis less tolerance for experimentation withoutresults. Artificial intelligence (AI) sits at the center of this transition. The promise of AI insupply chains is real, but the industry is moving past early hype. Most organizationsnow recognize that the primary constraint is not algorithmic sophistication, but theunderlying foundations — fragmented data, legacy architectures, unclear ownership, and decision processes still built around experience rather than data. AI isprovingto be less a cure-all than a stress test, exposing weaknesses that have longlimitedend-to-endperformance. At the same time, technology strategies themselves are evolving. Companies areaccelerating investment in modular, composable architectures and collaborating moreactively with startups to move faster and remain agile. Yet this shift also brings new risks:without architectural discipline and strong data governance, modularity can quickly turninto complexity, eroding the very benefits itpromises. These dynamics are mirrored in the European supply chain technology ecosystem. Aftera sharp correction following the pandemic investment boom, funding is beginning torecover only selectively. Capital is concentrating in areas directly linked to productivity, regulatory readiness, and industrial competitiveness, such as manufacturing, sustainability and compliance, and fleet management. Other segments that thrivedduring the years of disruption are facing a tougher reckoning as businessmodelsare tested under more normal marketconditions. Taken together, the message of this year’s report is clear: the next wave of supply chainadvantage will not come from more tools, pilots, or dashboards. It will come fromdisciplined execution — anchoring technology investment in measurable outcomes, fixing data and integration foundations, and scaling AI as part of core operations ratherthan as a standaloneinitiative. This report provides leaders, boards, and investors with a clear view of where value isbeing created today, where expectations are misaligned with reality, and what it will taketo turn technology ambition into sustained performance in the yearsahead.
