The VEN List has undergone several reviews, on anaverage five yearly basis, since publication of the firstedition. The preceding edition was published in 2020.In carrying out this latest update a bold approach wasadopted to include therapies for conditions previouslyconsidered too expensive to treat, and therefore were notincluded in the VEN list. Additionally included, are newtherapies reflecting new technologies, which based onpresent scientific clinical evidence, will deliver optimumtherapeutic outcomes whilst at the same time being themost effective pharmacoeconomic options. As with earlier editions this VEN list is partially based onthe WHO Model List of Essential drugs that comprisesitems that should be readily available for use in publichealth institutions along with current national guidelinesfor specific conditions (such as HIV/AIDS, STIs, HTN, DM,Malignant Diseases, Asthma, TB/leprosy) which representthe best therapeutic intervention in each of the priorityconditions covered. The VEN List is a key policy and reference for the sector,and efforts are constantly made to ensure that it is updated,effectively disseminated and its regular and routine usepromoted. Use of the VEN List The VEN List2020,was prepared by an ad-hoc technicalworking group under the supervision of the NationalDrug and Therapeutics Committee (NDTC), following awell-managed process.It was the product of extensive,dilig
