Foreword Natalie Pierce Head, Global Shapers Community For more than 50 years, the World Economic Forum has workedto bring together leaders from governments, businesses and civilsociety to tackle the most pressing challenges of our time. Buttoday, leadership is no longer confined to established institutions, heads of state or top executives. It belongs to everyone – andespecially to young people. Impact Meetings (SDIM) in New York, Global Shapers contributegrounded perspectives on everything from artificial intelligence(AI) to humanitarian action. They bring urgency, foresight andlived experience to the global agenda – helping shape policiesand partnerships that work for all. This report demonstrates how Global Shapers are translatingthe Forum’s mission – to improve the state of the world – intomeasurable, people-centred and place-based results. Whetherorganizing town halls on trust in democracy, creating jobsthrough apprenticeships and social enterprise, or restoringmangroves and urban spaces to fight climate change, GlobalShapers are working not only for their communities, but for thecollective future we all share. The Global Shapers Community was created from this belief. Established in 2011, the Global Shapers Community is a movementof young people working together to address local, regional andglobal challenges. In more than 500 cities in over 150 countries andterritories – from Accra to Auckland and Zurich to Zagreb – GlobalShapers are accelerating climate action, safeguarding mentalhealth, advancing economic equity, driving digital inclusion andmore, often where traditional approaches have fallen short. This is more than a community. It’s a movement. And ourmomentum is growing. What makes this community unique is not just the scale ordiversity of its 10,000 members but the way it bridges localinsight with global systems. Global Shapers engage directlywith the Forum’s Initiatives, ensuring global priorities translateinto tangible local action. Through flagship meetings such asthe Annual Meeting in Davos and the Sustainable Development To our members, partners and supporters across the globe:a sincere thank you. Your passion, collaboration and belief inthe power of young people fuel everything we do. Together,we are shaping a world that is more inclusive, sustainableand hopeful for all. The great challenges of our timecannot be solved by any single leader, sector or generation. They requirecollective imagination and sharedresponsibility. Global Shapers remindus that young people are not only theleaders of tomorrow, but co-creators ofsolutions today. Their energy, insight andcommitment give me greater confidencein our collective ability to improve thestate of the world. The Global Shapers Community is notjust a network of young leaders; it is amovement that challenges us to reimaginehow change happens. By bringing youngpeople’s creativity, urgency and moral clarityinto dialogue with established institutionsand leaders, the community builds thebridges we need between generations, sectors and cultures. Global Shapersremind us that transformation is not thework of the few, but the responsibility of all– and that the courage to act often beginswith the youngest among us. Professor Klaus Schwab, Chair,Global Shapers Community;Founder, World Economic Forum Sebastian Buckup, ManagingDirector, World Economic Forum How we create impact Young changemakers drive Forumimpact by collaborating with centres, stakeholders and at meetings –translating global agendas into localaction worldwide. The Global Shapers Community transforms the Forum’smission into outcomes through three interconnected activities– centres, meetings and stakeholders – ensuring young peopleare not only in the conversation but shaping decisions andlong-term solutions. No generation can shape what’s aheadalone. It takes all of us, imagining, buildingand governing together. That’s why wecreated the Global Shapers Future 50Initiative – to equip emerging leaders withthe capacity to apply intergenerationalforesight, both as a tool and a mindset, toreal-world governance challenges. We’renot here to inherit the future. We’re hereto co-create it. Transformative changebegins when people across generationsand geographies share decision-makingpower, not just seats at the table.
