They equipindividuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to navigatethe complexities of the job market, adapt to new challenges, andachieve their career goals. ACT®WorkKeys®is a nationally recognized system of assessments,curriculum, and job profiling that helps states, students, andemployers measure essential workplace skills linked to careerreadiness. Students who complete the threecore WorkKeys assessments—Applied Math,Workplace Documents,andGraphic Literacy—receive the ACT®national Career ReadinessCertificate™(nCRC™), a portable credential withfour levels of achievement: Bronze, Silver,gold,and Platinum. The American Council on Education (ACE)recommends thatnCRC earners receive collegecredits as follows: ځStudents achieving PlatinumnCRC can nowearn 6 semester hours (3 each inTechnicalMathematicsandIntroduction to InformationLiteracy)ځ gold earners can receive 4 semester hours,and Silver earners can be awarded 2 semesterhours in the vocational category. Individual communities may acquire a certification asan ACT®Work Ready™Community (WRC). This initiativeempowers states, states, regions, and counties withdata, processes, and tools that drive economic growth.Participants leverage thenCRC to measure and closethe skills gap and build common frameworks thatlink, align, and match their workforce developmentefforts. Participation demonstrates to businesses thatthe community is committed to providing a skilledworkforce and can attract new businesses. STATE SUCCESS STORIES Alabama The Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE)supports college and career readiness by offering theWorkKeys assessments to all 12th-grade students eachfall; the assessment is available in both paper andonline formats. Students who do not initially achieve a Silver-levelNCRC are offered a retest opportunity in the spring.They are provided access to the ACT®WorkKeys®Curriculum to help strengthen their skills before thesecond administration. Alabama’s strategic plan sets a goal for 65% of eachgraduating cohort to earn a Silver-level NCRC. Thestate is making strong progress toward that target,reaching62%as of 20
