They can alsobe used to identify emerging trends within the EU’sbusiness economy, tracing monthly or quarterlydevelopments for indicators such as output, outputprices or labour input. parts of the business economy starts with anoverview of the economic structure (in terms ofvalue added and employment) and then showsdevelopments through to 2023. The 2024 editionis enhanced with data on multinational enterprisegroups as well as on electric and hybrid cars. Several issues have impacted businesses acrossthe EU in recent years. These include the COVID-19pandemic, its related restrictions and its longer-termdisruption of supply chains, as well as higher levels ofinflation and the Russian military aggression againstUkraine and the related sanctions. Key figures on European businessoffers a balancedset of indicators. It starts with an overview of thebusiness economy and is followed by more detailedpresentations of its 4 specific parts – industry,construction, distributive trades and other marketservices. The publication closes with a chapter ontourism.
